For our Sound project, we came up with the idea of skipping class, as this activity is pretty common in schools, so it would make sense to do this due to our target audience being a bunch of people in high school.
First of all, we had to figure out how we would even make this idea come to fruition, without saying the word "skipping", so we had to think as a kid who would skip class, which is how we came up with the first few seconds of our project which was a kid asking to "use the bathroom". From here we essentially knew we could go in so many different directions with this, ideas were constantly running throughout our heads everyday that we worked on it. In order to keep in short and sweet, we stuck with a few of them which were using the bathroom, walking around and messing around in our locker.
To make these sounds sound accurate and to allow the audience to understand, we had to ensure that every sound that plays was able to create an image in our head of what is currently taking place as if we were watching a film. For example, we made our walking noises by simply putting the microphone up to the shoes of mine as i walk down the hallway which actually leads to the bathroom.
There are many small details that we took into place whilst making this, which include simple but easily overlooked things like the sound of door hinges when you open a door to leave,
the ambient noise in the background to hint that the person is in a hallway, and the process of using the bathroom which includes opening and locking a stall, the zipper of the pants being heard unzipped and zipped, the walk OUT of the stall and to the sink, and of course the water and paper towel dispenser sounds paired with the sound of hands rubbing against the paper towels.
I believe we did extremely well on this project, as we made every single last sound in our video INSIDE of school using the actual things. An example of this is we actually had a friend zip and unzip his pants, walk into and out of a stall, and of course the noise of using the bathroom was the only un original sound we used, however we accomodated for this by adjusting the water flow of a water bottle and the height in which it was being poured out to ensure it sounds sort of realistic.
